I See Right Thru You

STOP saying out loud the thing(s) you are going to do.

There are people that like to be heard. I think it makes them feel important. Some people may not realize that when you speak out loud, your dreams and aspirations, you are seeking accountablity partners. Accountablity partners want to see you succeed and they will ask you often, "Did you do as you said you were going to do?" Well, what do you think will happen if you keep saying you are going to do and when asked if you did, your answer is always; "no, not yet" "I forgot" "Oh, I cloudn't, but I will in 2 weeks." Come on, are you serious? Obviously not and that is OK, but you need to stop saying out loud the things you are going to do until you are ready to get that done. It is not fare to your accountability partners.

STOP putting off the thing(s) you say you are going to do.

What is really going on? That is what you need to ask yourself; and wait for yourself to answer. You obviously want something more for yourself; albeit, an education, a house, you want to move, you want an upgrade of some tangible thing......and the list can go on. If you have gotten as far as knowing what you need to do to get their and you have not taken the necessary steps to getting there, then you need to figure out what is holding you back. Roadblocks, are just that. They can be moved. You may need a taskforce to move it or you may be able to move it yourself. Bottom line, move it and move on.

I see right thru you

Believe it or not, the video below inspired this posting. Inspiration can come from anywhere, anyone, and anything. We, the people, are powerful beings. We have powers that we don't know we have. Seek within yourself to find out what powers you have and when you start to use them, you will master them.

Voting Time is Right Around the Corner

I know there are a lot of political commercials on the TV. Tea Partiers (is that a word?) in your town. Politicians knocking on your door. Your neighbors have all these signs on their lawn, too! But, you know what time of year it is! It is time to VOTE and that is literally around the corner. Did you vote last year? I hope you did. This time of the year can be a bit confusing for a lot of us and I am no expert. I rarely watch the news these days. I don't like seeing the negative ads. This year someone informed us all that you can visit VOTE411.ORG, to find out who is running in your neighborhood, Town, City, and State.

My only advice to all my readers is to make your own decision. Vote for who you think best meets your needs and the needs of your area. Don't let others dictate the right candidate.

Getting It All Together

I wish this post was about how I got it all together. Let the truth be told, I am far from it. I really want to get it together; but, I just have so many things going on all at the same time, I just don't know where to start.

One of the ways for people to get it together is to start eliminating and that is not so much of an option for me, because I love all that I am involved in.

Another way is to write everything down and keep a calender, you know, to stay more organized. Well, let the truth be told again, I have a calender that I carry in my purse that I don't open enough. One day, I will use it; maybe when I get it all together.

Yet another way is to hire a life coach. Now this folks, I have done and I am so glad I did. It just so happens that mine understands me. Well, you should find one that understands you....how else is he/she gonna help you get it all together. I decided to hire one, because I have all these thoughts in my head, on paper, and in my computer. I hired my life coach to help me with one major aspect of my life and I will be sure to update you on how that is going.

Funny thing, my life coach can not help me get it all together. Or can she? The verdict is out on that one. I am sure I will learn some valuable tools that will help me with other aspects in my life.

Clean Up, Clean Up, Everybody, Everywhere!

Stop thinking that you are doomed.
Stop thinking that nothing good comes your way.
Stop thinking that you are cursed.
It is time to ask yourself; "Am I available to receive the goodness of this world?"

It's clean up time!!

Clean out the garbage in your mind. Get rid of the negative thoughts that you say to yourself on a daily basis. Let go of the negative people that hang around you like leeches. Once you start cleaning out and cleaning up, you should notice positive things happening to you. It may not be when or how you want it, but it will be on time.

Back to Basics

I have been through a whirlwind. One of the longest storms that I have been through in a long time. This time it lasted about 2 or 3 weeks. Just like at the end of every storm, you must assess the damage and then clean it up.

I am going through my assessment and the damage is great. The best way for me to tackle this clean up is by going back to basic. What are the things that I have done to help me through my previous crisis?

1. Prayer ~ I will go back to reading my prayer everyday. I realize that it needs to be revised again.
2. Affirmations ~ I need to start reading my affirmations daily; that too, needs to be revised.
3. One at a time ~ I just need to pick up each piece one at a time and decide if it is worth keeping or tossing.

These 3 things are the basics for me to help me get my life back on track. What things do you do when you realize the storm is over and you need to clean up your life?

Till Next Time......

The Poetic Spit & Hmmmmm, Music

The Poetic Spit

I love music. It has affects that are hard to explain. I love to write, and that too has affects that are hard to explain. My words flow, it flows so fast that if I am not ready, I will lose it. Strange feeling, I can beg and beg, for those words to come back to me. Its like the bus driver that saw you running and kept going so that the schedule can be kept. I love my spirit for together we make beautiful music together.

Hmmm, Music

I enjoy being in my room alone
The house is quiet, my room is my own
My head space begins to clear
My soul rejoices and cheers
The words flow and sounds sweet to me
The music that plays makes me free
I am free to be me
When my house is quiet, my room my own
I spit things that only I can hear
My paper becomes my companion
My pen is ever so near
The singer sings the blues
The melodies feel my cup
Gives me motivation
As that cup overflows
The singer continues to blow
My soul says please
Play one more song
Hmmmmm, Music
My spirit is not done with me
I need more music to inspire me
Hmmmmm, Music
It does wonders for me
The soothing affect
keeps my thoughts in check

Spit: To bust a rhyme. To freestyle.

I hope you enjoyed my randomness. I often write something random in my notebook or in my word document. Tonight, I was inspired by the music that is playing on my phone and the quietness of my personal space. I am often at this place on Thursday nights as that is the last day that I work for the week. I feel a sense of relief because I know that tomorrow is mine to enjoy on my own terms. So for that very reason, my Spirit inspires me, comforts me, and assures me of the many blessings and gifts that I have.

Proactive Parenting: Grades

Social Butterfly Presents: Proactive Parenting

Proactive: Acting in advance to deal with an expected difficulty; anticipatory...

Parenting: The rearing of a child or children, especially the care, love, and guidance given by a parent.

Grades

Does your child know what grades he/she is expected to make? I think it is very helpful to tell your child what is acceptable, repeatedly. I have been blessed with really smart kids, however, the blessing falls short because my smart kids don't always make bring home smart school grades. When it comes to school; you will have children that are smart and make good grades everytime, smart and doesn't always make good grades because they have a very different agenda (mine), average B-C student, and students who struggle to grasp what is going on. I am sure these types can be broken down further, but I am sure you understand where I am going. So with that said, I have to sometimes push my children up, when they are falling down. I don't mind it, but it can be frustrating sometimes when I get that progress report and I see C average in some of those classes. They know I will be mad, so why don't they prevent that grade before hand, I don't know.

So, my question to you is, :Does your children know what is expected of them when it comes to their education?" Please share your expectations, I might want to adopt it. LOL

Some people really feel that the US school system is failing because of the parents. As stated in a previous post, I disagree; however we can continue to be proactive parents and help our children be the best they can be.

Proactive Parenting: Bullying

Social Butterfly Presents: Proactive Parenting

Proactive: Acting in advance to deal with an expected difficulty; anticipatory...

Parenting: The rearing of a child or children, especially the care, love, and guidance given by a parent.

Bullying

Parenting is not an easy job; however, it is a rewarding one. One of the mantras my children hear me say is, "My job is to teach you right from wrong." If we don't teach them right from wrong, they may not get that lesson elsewhere.

Currently, there are children who are killing themselves because of bullying. I have never been bullied to the point where I felt helpless, but there are children who are experiencing this daily. I know children tease each other, I witness it in my own house. Each and everytime I hear them, I cut it short and let them know that that sort of behavior is unexceptiple. It is not tolerated in or outside of our home.

I can not pretend that I know what is in the mind of a child that bullys; but as a parent, I strongly feel that we can start letting our children know that someones differences are normal. Humans are not all the same. The younger your child is the better. Let's be proactive parents.

Life lessons are easy to incorporate in your families daily life.

Tired? Drink Water!

12 Surprising Things That Are Making Your Tired // Woman drinking water (© Biggie Productions/Getty Images)

I just read this article, 12 Surprising Things That Are Making You Tired. Mild dehydration is the #7 reason that I may be tired. I don't know about you, but I do not drink enough. I am one of those people who hate water by itself. I just can't drink water just to be drinking it. I have to have something to eat or be thirsty. According to the article, by the time you are thirsty, you have already lost body fluid.

There are so many reasons why a person can be tired. I would say the best way to figure out which one is your primary is to start making some adjustments 1x1.

I am on day 4 of my 30 day blog challenge. I am getting them in.

Are You Waiting for Superman? Pt.1

Ok, so, I haven't seen the new documentary, "Waiting for Superman," but I really want to go and see it. When it comes to the education system of the United States, I have often wondered what was it's true agenda. I remember my elementary years were filled with learning at Pilgrim Christian Academy. In 8th grade, I had to go to public school. Yes, it was a scary moment in my life. During the 1st week of school, I had learned that I was smarter than my classmates, knew more then most of the kids, and did this work either a year or two ago. Those are not lessons you want your child to learn the first week of school. I was successful at dumbing myself down just so I can fit in. When I was a teenager, my brother was either in the 1st or 2nd grade. He was so proud of his grade, it was an A or B, and I looked at his paper to see a misspelled word. I was soo confused. How could a teacher miss that, "Your teacher must be dumb." Thats was I told him and he went crying off somewhere. My mom told me it was mean to say such things. By the time I had my children, I just knew that my children where not going to public school. Needless to say, I had the opportunity to send then to a parochial school, but due to circumstances they had to go to public school.

I have set very high standards for my children. They do know what is expected of them. I knew that education was important when I was a child and my children know that too. They all know that they are going to college right out of High School and if they don't know what they want to do they will get an Associates degree in something of interest.

I was watching Larry King the other evening when Prof. Ben Stein suggested that parents are to blame for the education system failing. Ok, if he didn't say it, he inferred it. I couldn't disagree with the man anymore than I already was. Parents are a child's first teacher, but once they get in school, there isn't much else the parent can do. Yes, there are basics; make sure your child is in a safe and working environment, has the essential tools needed to do the work, and eat balanced meals. If there are somethings that I am missing, please comment. I have a laundry list of things that I blame these parents for and it has nothing to do with the what the teacher is teaching my child.

I remember learning my multiplication table in the 2nd or 3rd grade; by grade 3 or 4, I was writing papers and using the encyclopedia for a science paper. I am sure I can muster up some more memories, but essentially the school system is failing our children because their standards have been lowered. Yet, when a child comes to America and enters the school system they are left back a grade, or what about all the immigrants who have degrees and were practicing Medicine or Nursing in their home country; they can not do the same here. They have to go to school all over again. We ranked 20th in the top 25 of developing countries education list. You can travel anywhere in the world and take your degrees and practice your craft, but here in America, you have to start over. This is not a fare system and our children can't compete in the world yet alone against other schools in the same state.

Become open-minded. Learn the views of others so that yours is well-rounded. Pledge to see Waiting for Superman. I did.

Parents are a child's first teacher, but once they get in school, there isn't much else the parent can do.
Part 2 will explore what else we can do as parents to help our children succeed.

Saving Our Children from others

Wow!! I just watched an Ellen Degeneres' video about young people who have ended their lives withing the last month or so. I recently wrote an article, A Child's Thoughts; it's purpose was to bring to the forefront a few points worth considering when pointing fingers.

There is a lot of work to be done, no matter which side of the spectrum; you as a parent, are on. We need to talk to our children; self-esteem is very important. When anyone, yet alone a child, is low on it, it can be detrimental.
