A Married Couple that Dances Together Stays Together

Sorry, I haven't blogged in a hot minute. School started for me and the children and it will take me a little time to get on a routine that works. So, I decided to take a break from my school work (I go online at the local community college in my town) and went on FaceBook. Attached is a video that I saw on my page; it is of a church in Chicago that has a married couples ministry. This is a wonderful idea for churches and I only hope that this is something that catches on fire and spreads as fast as wildfires. Marriage is one of those wonderful, amazing experiences; and at the same time it is most challenging thing next to parenting.

A Good Support System = A Strong Anything

My creative juices are flowing and I am thinking, "how can I do something like this in my community." Have you thought of how you can help the married people in your community?

I hope you enjoy this 5 minute video as much as I did.

Shutting Down

Shutting down is a term I used when something or someone did go as planned, then I would shut them or it down. Well, spending many years going with the flow more got me out of practice. It is much harder for me to shut down. Why? Because I am more attached to my situations and have grown a heart. I am realizing, though, that I have decided to get rid of a skill that I thought was useless in having. Hmm, many years later, I am realizing that it is time to utilize that skill for the greater good. It is good for me to shut down.

So, what is shutting down? That is when I, in the past, have quit boyfriends because they are not meeting my needs or, oh, I think that is when I used it. I am laughing to myself. Ok, so the idea is to break things off that are not working (I do do that all the time). I don't glutten for pain, misery, or anything that would fit in that category. Shutting down gives you a break; a break from what you are used to. Humans tend to get comfortable in situations. We learn to deal with uncomfortable issues instead of speaking up and moving on (thats just something random I threw in there).

It is time for me to "SHUT IT DOWN." Things are not working out for me. I am at a cross between doing what my heart is telling me and doing what my mind is telling me. I am going to do another fast next week to see what the spirit is telling me to do.

One of the morals of this post is to figure out how to get in touch with your spirit so that when it is time for you to shut down, you know which way to go when you get going again.

Now that is what I am talking about

Those who follow me, know that I am all about change. Here is an article about Chicago and Walgreens being apart of the change. Change is infectious. Oops, I just remembered that I was going to right about that disease. OK, it is coming soon. When you see there is a problem, keep you mind open to receive the possibilities that will come your way.

Here is the great article about eliminating Food Deserts. Enjoy!!!!

Living In Unity

While on my lunch break walk, I spotted two bugs; one on top of the other. These two bugs represented so much of what goes on in the human world. So, I decided to snap some photos of them with my iPhone camera. Well, it was soo bright, I really couldn't tell how good the pics would come out.

It is not everyday that you see a small brown bug on the back of a bigger green bug. I couldn't tell if they were the same species or not. But, one thing was very apparent, they were at piece. Enjoying themselves in the hot summer sun; not paying me any mind at all. In my mind these bugs could be two races living in harmony, husband and wife getting their grove on; best friends from different socioeconomic backgrounds. The bottom line; they were different and didn't seem to mind it one bit.

I dream of a world where races can live together in peace and harmony; husbands and wives get along in spite of their differences; and friendships can sprout up from the strangest situations.

Wyclef Jean for President

Sometime you have to be the change. What that means is simply this: You see things around you that are not right. Why not figure out how you can make it right. Then, surround yourself with those like-minded people and go forth.

Positive change is good..... I am so sure that he can make the difference. The history of the Haitian people is great, the future of the Haitian people is greater.

Put down your righteous flags

I did not plan on writing another post today, but I think I need to. I am all about social issues and changing whether it is yourself or others. I was on facebook today and saw a friends post about the FIRST LADY taking a vacation. I don't know about my readers, but gosh, the things that makes the news kills me sometimes. We, as a people CAN NOT allow foolish things in the media to deter us from what is IMPORTANT. First Lady taking another vacation - not important....First Lady's health initiatives - important. You have to admit that if you had the money, you would be taking yourself a vacation too. Here is my comment about the article:

I am so tired of people waving their righteous flags. Put those S*&$s down. There are plenty of people with money and they are spending it. I work 5 days a week helping people spend their money. If those with money didn't spend it, then ...I and you may not have the jobs/businesses that we have. These issues that are constantly being bought up in the media is to deter you from the realization of "what's really going on". Yes, people are losing there jobs and killing others b/c of it. But, know that this recession is not affecting any and everyone. They President and his wife like Shameka said, were rich before they got into office and they will be rich when they leave. We need not get caught up in all this hoopla, we need to look at ourselves and uplift those around us. Imagine if the whole world did that, iso being upset that the woman took a vacation. I don't care if she took 100 vacations a year. My concern with her as a FIRST LADY, is is she doing her job and is she keeping her husband in check, is she being a good back bone, is she telling him when decision are not right. Thats what we all need to be concerned about not how many vacations she takes.

Fighting Extreme Global Poverty

The Movement of One Day's Wages from One Day's Wages on Vimeo.

I wanted to share this video with you. When I first watched, I was like wow. Poverty, the ending of poverty is part of Social Butterfly's mission statement. I am not exactly sure when we will be able to start our own initiative, but we sure can help others do what they are set to do.

Being a part of any CHANGE is definitely a good thing.
